Eminem x Jay-Z: A Night I Will Always Remember With People I Will Never Forget
We here at the Attic are always somehow where it’s at! From the exclusive parties, events, showcases and shows, we skip around the grid and return to bring you what we saw and conquered (or maybe we just like to brag about how awesome our lives are).
So to continue the tradition of being in places you would love to be, I decided to take a trip out to the Detroit aka the Dirty D just to catch the Eminem x Jay-Z concert at Comerica Park. This being a two city (Detroit and New York) concert series it was a limited opportunity to witness a historical performance. You’ll find out in a second why (just keep reading)…

After a $100 General Admission ticket, a $350 ticket to DTW and a 4-hour flight, I arrived at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit.
Basically, this was going to be a Eminem and Jay-Z show (in Detroit) so I figured we would see D-12 open the event with the 2 headliners coming on after. Couldn’t have been more wrong!

B.o.B opened the show with a nice 30-minute set. From “Satellite” to “Magic” to “Airplanes Pt. 1,” B.o.B definitely got things off to a good start.
On to the Next One… Jay-Z. Pretty much we all know (or have heard) how insanely amazing of a performer Hov is. I have been fortunate to attend a couple of his shows and he is always in rare form.

With this eyes hidden behind a pair of black wayfarers, Hov took control of the 50,000+ crowd (not even standing room) for about 80-minutes.

i got 99 problems but my kicks ain’t one (cause i shop ATTIC)

In the middle of Hov’s set, the Snowman Young Jeezy surprised the sell-out crowd! Yeeaaaaaa

From the captivating visual effects to his on-the-mic clarity, Hov proved once again why he must always be mentioned with hip-hop legends such as 2Pac and Biggie Smalls.

Speaking of hip-hop legends, Hov paid tribute to fallen hip-hop soliders 2Pac, Biggie, Eazy-E, Aaliyah and Detroit’s very own Proooooof!

The crowd erupted into a wild frenzy like no other once the hometown hero took stage during a dramatic video intro. The intro explained the back story of this concert series: the long road back home since 2005 (Em’s last performance at Comerica) and his well-chronicled battle with drugs and rehab.

During the closing set, Em brought out some friends which included D-12, Trick Trick and some others…!

Em also brought out his Shady/Aftermath buddy 50 Cent (who brought out Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo).

Then to my extreme delight (no homo), Drake appeared on stage to perform “Forever” with Em. I have watched my fair share of Drake performances on youtube which gave me the misconception he sucks live. You gotta watch him live. That’s all I’m gonna say.
After a mind-blowing performance of “Renegade” by Em and Hov, it was time for the showstopper…

This was the “What the F*CK is going on right now?! I am about to SH*T my pants!! OMG!!” moment of the night.
After a small set of songs by the Dynamic Duo, 50,000 people began to shout out for “DETOX!” As Dre exited stage left, we left the crowd with… “I’m comin!”

By far Eminem is the greatest live performance I have ever witnessed. Ever. His energy, delivery and emotion are unmatched by anyone I have been fortunte enough to watch. Must-See TV.
This being such an unforgettable night I highly doubt I will ever go to any concert ever again. Not even Coachella. Coachella doesn’t have sh*t on this.
Hate Me Now. Thank Me Later.
